A new wings restaurant that is starting to pop up around the Metroplex is Hoots. As you might guess, Hoots is sister chain to Hooters, and they offer the same wing, chicken and sauce choices that you'll find at Hooters sans the bar and the orange and white outfits that associated with the Hooters chain. This is also a departure from the sports bar image, and instead feels more like a direct competitor to Wingstop.
The menu is primarily wings, tenders, and chicken sandwiches, but they also do offer breaded shrimp, a salad and a few selections of sides. The traditional wings can be ordered breaded, "naked", or smoked. Some locations offer a few additional menu items, but these are generally available at all.
I can eat wings several times a week, so I stopped in to the new Fort Worth location on Golden Triangle to see what it was like. As you enter, you definitely feel a similarity to Wingstop. What makes this place different is that it is more brightly decorated, and probably has 2 to 3 times to number of tables. What was also very noticeable is the presence of outlets all along the wall, making it easy to connect your devices during your visit, or bring your laptop, and do a little work while you grab lunch.
The wings are the same as you'd get at Hooters, so don't expect anything different there. If you like Hooters' wings, you'll like these. IF you don't like Hooters' wings, don't go expecting anything different.
It is a counter-order set-up. I believe that guests would typically return to the counter when called to pick up your food, but it was not busy during our visit, and our food was brought to our table. The service was welcoming and friendly, and the manager stopped by to check on us - I realize that this is likely a product of the location just opening, but a nice gesture regardless.
It's nice to have another option for wings in the area, and a good place for lunch.
